Plastic Surgery – New and Surprising Procedures

There are common plastic surgery procedures, such as facelifts and breast augmentation that have been performed for decades. To battle aging, people may turn to cosmetics in order to look more youthful. Recently, there has been an increase in superficial procedures that may be extremely unnecessary and dangerous. Here is a look at some new and surprising cosmetic procedures.

Lifting the Earlobes

The ears are one of the many body parts that can betray the age of a person. However, with the help of experts in dermatology and reconstruction, these parts can be padded and plumped, just like the face. Nonsurgical fillers like Restylane or Perlane are used to add volume. This may last for four months to a year. Lasers tighten the sagging skin and people with elongated earlobes can have them surgically altered using a procedure that removes a wedge of tissue.

Getting Rid Of Cankles

Many women consider chubby cankles to be a bane to their existence. Many plastic surgeons advocate using liposuction to produce slimmer lower legs. However, there is often severe pain involved, along with excessive post-surgery swelling and a lengthy recovery time. This is because there is not a lot of fat in the area and plenty of blood vessels and nerves.

Lumpy Chin Fix

Dimpling of the chin is otherwise called cobblestoning, pebbled chin, golf ball chin and other cringe-worthy names. With the use of Botox or Dysport, one can eliminate their dimpled chin. However, this is a tricky procedure that needs to be performed every three months, and if it is performed incorrectly a patient may end up with a droopy lip.

Radish Calf Relief

If a woman has overly muscular lower legs, she may feel self-conscious about her radish calves. Botox can be used in large amounts to contour radish calves and reduce the size of the muscle. However, the procedure runs a small risk of the patient losing the ability to walk properly. Thus, due to the possibility of developing functional disabilities, doctors believe that this procedure is outlandish and dangerous.

Filling The Feet

Women who love high heels but hate how painful they feel after hours of walking might consider getting dermal fillers for extra cushion. According to experts, this procedure is popular in New York and other city where high heels make up a big part of the culture. Restylane, Juvéderm and Perlane are injected into the toe pads, the ball of the foot and the heel area. However, please note that this procedure is still highly experimental.

Erasing Necklace Lines

Horizontal neck lines are telltale signs of aging and can make people insecure. Luckily, a patient can have them fixed with a few injections of Dysport or Botox. These nonsurgical injections have shown to produce excellent results when performed correctly by licensed practitioners.

Liposuction Of The Knees

Some experts claim that most women hate their knees. Those with knee fat may have tumescent liposuction done to reduce the appearance of fat in the knee, using lidocaine as an anesthetic. It is an outpatient procedure with a recovery time of merely two days.
